Thank You for Funding a ‘Shocking’ Piece of Equipment
Defibrillator Life Pack

It is one of the most recognizable pieces of hospital equipment. A new defibrillator life pack will continue to help save lives on the Medical Surgical Unit at Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) – thanks to our generous donors. The new pack replaces an aging device that will now be used for staff training sessions. WDMH educators will provide advanced courses without using an in-service device that might be needed should an emergency occur.

A defibrillator is a device that sends an electric pulse or shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. It is used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, which is an uneven heartbeat that is too slow or too fast. If the heart suddenly stops, a defibrillator can also help it beat again.

“This piece of equipment supports both patient care and education,” notes Kristen Casselman, Managing Director, WDMH Foundation. “We are so grateful to our local communities for helping the Foundation fund important equipment such as this new defibrillator.”

The new defibrillator life pack costs $14,660.29.
